Caletta M. Oakley, 92, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island.
Private Graveside Services will be at the Soulville Cemetery near Boelus, NE. Chaplain Mark Hartley will officiate. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mrs. Oakley was born February 5, 1920 in Stockham, Nebraska the daughter of Raynard and Cecil (Smith) Bird.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Fredrick Oakley, her parents, and brother “RB”.
Survivors include her children; Sandra (Kevin) Parr of Scottsdale, Arizona, Larry G. (Nadine) Oakley of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Gary Oakley of Brighton, Colorado; six Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren.
Caletta graduated from high school in Los Angeles in 1936. She and Ralph Oakley were married on May 20, 1937 in Los Angeles. Following their marriage they lived in California, Washington, and Indiana before moving back to Nebraska. During WWII she worked as a seamstress for Chrysler. Following the war she was a farm wife and after her husbands passing she owned and operated Oakley Drapery and Upholstery. She also owned and operated Herbs and Things in Grand Island and Brighton, CO.
