Allan Dean Stobbe, 58, of Grand Island, died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at St. Francis Skilled Care with his family at his side.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Fr. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. There will be no visitation, Mr. Stobbe was cremated.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. Stobbe was born on April 1, 1954 in Grand Island to Eldon T. and Lillian D. (Peters) Stobbe. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School.

He entered the United States Marine Corps on May 29, 1973 and was honorably discharged on June 27, 1977. On February 21, 1985 he entered the United States Navy and served until his retirement on November 30, 1994.

Allan was united in marriage to Bonnie Ward on September 8, 1978 in Grand Island. The couple briefly made their home in Kansas City. During Allan’s military service they made their home in Virginia Beach, VA, Kingsville, TX and again in Virginia Beach, VA. Following his retirement they returned to Grand Island where he was employed by the Grand Island Public Schools until retiring due to poor health.

He was an avid Husker football fan and he enjoyed watching westerns and MASH. He also enjoyed playing cards and playing with his dog Bonnie Sue. Allan always stayed busy, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His family and friends will always remember how he battled cancer with endless courage and determination, never letting it get him down.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Bonnie of Grand Island; a daughter Tina Stobbe of Grand Island; a son Thomas Rehder, Jr. of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Eric Hardekopf of Grand Island; and a daughter, Jeri Ward of Iowa; eight grandchildren, Makayla Stobbe, Thomas Rehder III, Brody and Ethan Hardekopf, and Ronnie, Duane, Dominick and Matthew Fowlkes.

He is also survived by his mother, Lillian Stobbe of Grand Island; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ted and Cindy Stobbe of Grand Island, Don and Pat Stobbe of Kansas City, and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Bob Krolikowski of Grand Island, and Roxie and Jason Zoucha of Grand Island.

Allan was preceded in death by his father, three brothers, John, Joseph and Gary Stobbe, and a grandson, Marcus Fowlkes.
