MARIAN LOIS BOWERS, age 91, of Grand Island, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. Reverend William Pavuk of St. Pauls Lutheran Church will officiate.
Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowers was born April 13, 1921 at Dannebrog, NE the daughter of Johanna C. (Petersen) and Peder (Ice Pete) Pedersen.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Henry Bowers on Dec. 1, 2000; two sisters, Arlene and Betty; five brothers, Edger, Gordon, Christian, Alvin, and Byron; and her parents.
Survivors include: Lyman C. Pedersen, Brother, Buena Park, California and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marian received her education from Dannebrog School, graduating from Dannebrog High School in 1938. She studied cosmetology at Buzzard’s School receiving her license in 1942. During WWII she worked at different Beauty Salons, and in 1954 opened three of her own Salons; working 30 years in her profession. She took time out and worked for six months at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant during the war. Marian was married to John Bowers on February 16, 1957. She assisted him as bookkeeper all of their married life.
Marian retired from her career in 1973 to help raise her nephew (Billie John) while his mother worked. She enjoyed her family and friends; dogs, flowers, gardening and reading.
