North Bend, NE resident Clarence Steven Sheets, 61, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Birchwood Manor in North Bend, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Sutton Memorial Chapel with Rev. Eric Biehl officiating. Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton, NE. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Birchwood Manor in North Bend, NE.
Clarence Steven Sheets was born March 26, 1951, in Hastings, NE to Clarence William and Edna Mae (Uhrich) Sheets.
Steve, who suffered from cerebral palsy, was lovingly cared for by his parents until their deaths. Since then, he lived in nursing homes in Hastings and Omaha. He spent 13 years at Quality Living Rehab Center in Omaha, NE before moving to Birchwood Manor in North Bend, NE, where he passed after being gravely ill for 3 years. Steve was sweet, smart and tough as nails. He fought so hard to live in spite of his afflictions. He had an enormous sense of humor and was a joy to all around him.
He is survived by his guardian, Rex Medley of Elkhorn, NE; sisters, Jean Roth of Denver, CO; Joan Kessler and husband Art of Sutton, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Edna Mae Sheets.
