Gerald Wesley Jones, 73 of Grand Island died Sunday, January 6, 2013.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before services.
Mr. Jones was born September 27, 1939 at Ionia, Kansas the son of Marshall and Veda (Bowles) Jones.
Survivors include his wife Debra; children, Steph Curry and her fiancé Russ Supencheck, Jeff and Michelle Jones, Tasha Jones, Delvin Jones and Jeanell Peace all of Grand Island and brothers, Jerry Jones of Garden City, KS and Larry Jones of Clyde, Kansas.
Other survivors include his grandchildren, Kayla Sloggett, Azalea Loya, Jett and Jaxson Jones and step grandchildren, Letrell, Letre and Letavion Warren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lawrence Jones.
In March of 1943 Gerald and his family moved to Jewell, Kansas and on October 25, 1955 they moved to Concordia, Kansas. Gerald graduated form Concordia High School, class of 1957. He married Sharon Dunahugh in 1962. Later he was united in marriage to Debra Peace on September 26, 1987.
He worked for Co-op Service and later he was employed by Gibson Discount Center. He was manager of Gibson’s in Fairburn, NE from 1967 to 1969. He opened a new store in Grand Island in 1969 and worked there until the store closed. Gerald worked as a Real Estate Agent and then worked for Great Lakes Redi-mix Construction which later became Consolidated Concrete. He worked with them for 25 years until his retirement.
Some of his enjoyments included fishing and boating, traveling and sports.
A memorial fund will be established in memory of Gerald.
