Marlan F. Lundell, 81, of Grand Island, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln.
Mr. Lundell was born October 31, 1931 to Ferdie and Leona (Dierke) Lundell at Cannon Falls, Minnesota.
Survivors include his son, Steven Lundell, Sr. of Nysted; grandson, Steven Lundell Jr. of Grand Island; brother and sister-in-law, Earl ‘Mick’ and Kathryn Lundell of Hampton, MN and sister, Joyce Rawlins of St. Paul, MN.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora on May 26, 2012; his parents; brother, Charles Lundell; and brother-in-law, Neal ‘Bud’ Rawlins.
Marlan grew up and attended school in Cannon Falls. He was united in marriage to Elnora Schmitz in 1953 in Mason City, Iowa. He then entered the U.S. Army in May of 1953 and was honorably discharged April 29, 1955.
After his discharge, the couple made their home in Rosemont, MN and Marlan was employed by Swift Transportation Co. In 1969 they moved to Grand Island where Marlan managed his own rental properties. Always working, hard work defined who Marlan was.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at United Congregational Church with Rev. Lonnie Logan officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
