Hastings resident, Fern E. Tomjack, 80, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Mary Lanning HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 17, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Christopher Miller officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013; 1 P.M. – 9 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the Nebraska Make- A- Wish Foundation or St. Michael’s Altar Society.
Fern was born July 16, 1932 in Summit, South Dakota to Raymond & Charlotte (Bell) Anderson. Her family moved to Clay County, Nebraska. Fern was a graduate of Harvard High School. She married Clarence “Corky” Hamik on April 26, 1952 and later they divorced. On October 4, 1969, she married Jewell Tomjack in Hastings, Nebraska. Fern was a homemaker and worked at Mode O’Day and the Naval Ammunition Depot. Fern was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a former member of the Hastings Women’s Bowling Association and Eagles Auxiliary. Fern had volunteered for the Make- A- Wish Foundation.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one sister; one great-grandchild and a daughter-in-law.
