Mary Roberta Helie, 86, of Grand Island, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Central City Care Center.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Naranjo officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mary was born December 26, 1926 to Clarence and Cecile (Mairs) Fox at Ord, Nebraska.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Schott of Grand Island, Susan Bostic of Royal, Arkansas, Jerilyn Merrick and her husband Greg of Grand Island and James Helie of North Platte; and sister and brother-in-law, Jeannine and Virgil Sundermeier of Grand Island.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard E. Helie, October of 1984; her parents; grandson, Christopher Schott; two sisters, Maxine Mrky and Jeannice Plate and two brothers, Clarence Fox Jr. and Marvin Fox.

Mary grew up in Ord and spent the majority of her life in Grand Island. She was employed at the Ordinance Plant and was a nurse aid at Saint Francis Medical Center and the Grand Island Veterans’ Home.

Mary was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Her enjoyments included going to the casinos and she loved Hershey candy bars.
