Lloyd E. Brown
Funeral Services for Lloyd E. Brown will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael E. Sander officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege with military honors conducted by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 of Holdrege in conjunction with the United States Navy Military Honors Team.
Lloyd Edward Brown, 76 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Mitchell County Hospital Health System in Beloit, Kansas. Lloyd was born December 7, 1936 at Cambridge, Nebraska, the eldest of three children born to Lloyd W. and Emma I. (Whitesell) Brown. He received his education from Cambridge Public Schools. Following his education, Lloyd engaged in farming as a farmhand in the Cambridge area.
On January 14, 1955 he was inducted into the United States Navy, serving his country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on December 23, 1958. Following his service, he was united in marriage to Carlen "Lynn" Schleicher and to this union four children were born. The family made their home in Odessa, Nebraska, where Lloyd began his career in the hay mill industry. Later in years, he resided in Harlan and Phelps County, where he continued to work in the agriculture field until his retirement.
On May 13, 1990, Lloyd was united in marriage to Beverly M. Hunt. The couple made their home in Holdrege. Lloyd loved to fish and hunt, was an avid country music fan, and most of all loved to spend time with his family. He was a very loving husband that enjoyed taking long drives in the country with his wife, Beverly. Lloyd was very patriotic, and his keen sense of humor will be remembered by all who know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Bev Brown of Holdrege; four children from his first marriage: Eugene, Kandy, Vicky, and James and their families; five step-children: Kim Sander and her husband, Brad of Norton, Kansas, Kurt Garber of Spokane, Washington, Melissa Mullen of Spokane, Richard Hunt and his wife, Sonya of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Travis Hunt of Spokane; brother, Harold Brown of Kearney, Nebraska; sister, LaVonne Parks and her husband, George of Cozad, Nebraska; and a host of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 10:00 a.m. – Noon.
