Kenneth Paul Overholt, 97 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Kenneth was born September 7, 1915 in Mason City, Iowa, the fourth of five children born to Joseph E. and Minnie Ellen (Harris) Overholt. He received his education in Denver, Colorado, graduating from Denver West High School with the class of 1934.
In January 1939, he was united in marriage to Laura Catherine Danielsen in Golden, Colorado and the couple made their home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. On November 11, 1942 he was inducted into the U.S. Navy and served during WWII until his honorable discharge in November 1945.
In 1949, he attended the University of Denver, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He then continued his education, receiving his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1950. Following his education, Kenneth began driving truck for the Bowman Biscuit Company and then later the Keebler Company in Denver until his retirement in 1977. His wife, Laura passed away in July of 1996.
Kenneth enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, traveling and the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Besides his parents and his wife, Laura; Kenneth was preceded in death by his four siblings, Vernon, Edgar, Esther, and Shirley.
Kenneth is survived by a host of nieces; nephews; including niece, Edith M. Youngmark of Holdrege; and other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation as the family is honoring his wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Kenneth’s honor and kindly suggested to the family.
