Betty L. Rubendall, the daughter of Thelma (Michael) and William E. Harper, was born May 6, 1928 at Brewster, Kansas. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 23 days.

Betty received her formal education attending the Brewster schools and graduated from the Norcatur High School with the class of 1946. On August 11, 1946 she was united in marriage with Troy Earl Rubendall at Oberlin, Kansas. Three children were born to this union, Tom, Bruce and Paula. They lived most of the life together in Nocatur, where Betty spent her years running a grocery store and then a ceramic shop. They lived ten years in Colorado and a decade at McCook, Nebraska, returning to White Cloud, Kansas to live, where her husband died on August 8, 1994. Betty remained in Kansas after his death until 2008, when she moved to Nebraska to be near her daughter.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church. In her leisure time Betty enjoyed attending Flea Markets and traveling.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two sons, Thomas Paul and Bruce James Rubendall; and two brothers, Billy and Harold Harper.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Paula Hammond and husband Roger of Red Cloud, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren, Nichole, Neil, Heather, Cathy and Jon; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Peggy Wyckoff of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., February 2, 2013 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Joel Rathbun officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Norcatur, Kansas.
