Hastings resident, Marjorie “Marj” E. Schwenk, 76, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Monday, February 18, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, Hastings with Pastor John Whitsett officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be Saturday, February 16, 2013; 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Sunday, February 17, 2013; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. with family present from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Marjorie “Marj” E. Schwenk was born September 16, 1936 in Hastings, Nebraska to Herschell R. & Mary (Rinker) Stonecypher. Marjorie graduated from Hastings High School in May 1954. On September 11, 1955, she married Delbert Roy Schwenk, former owner of Schwenk Custom Kitchens in Hastings. Marjorie was a lifelong resident of Hastings. Marjorie was a member of the Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene where she served as Sunday School Secretary for over 30 years, Church Treasurer for over 20 years, and as the Missions Study Chairman since 1972. Marjorie was employed by Foote Equipment Company (Big G Ace Hardware) in Hastings for 55 years until 2009.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernest D. Stonecypher; and sister, Margaret A. Cleveland.

Sister & Spouse: Grace & Stanley Franklin – Loveland, CO
Sister-in-law: Joyce Stonecypher – Lakewood, CA

We send our deepest sympathies to all of Marj's family. We knew her through Craig and Kay Schwenk. She was very special we realize and we feel her life was a beacon of good. May she rest in peace.
