Terry D. Bushhousen, 77, of Elba died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Terry’s request was to be cremated and that no public visitation or funeral was to be held. A private family service is being planned.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bushhousen was born September 12, 1935 in Rockville to Arthur and Mary (Gehring) Bushhousen.
He grew up and attended county school at Schauppsville and Wood River High School.
As a teenager he worked for area farmers around the Wood River area.
Terry was inducted into the United States Army on April 17, 1959 serving until receiving his honorable discharge on April 4, 1961.
He was united in marriage to Carol Wood on August 22, 1959 in Grand Island.
Terry was employed for many years with the Chevrolet dealership in Gothenburg. The couple lived in Alda from 1962 – 1966 and he worked as a self employed contractor in Grand Island. In 1974 the couple moved to a farm outside of Elba and ran a dairy farm. Through the years he worked in trucking, maintenance, as a mechanic and a welder at MFS. Terry retired in 1999.
Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Elba United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Elba; two sons, Jeff Bushhousen and his wife Jackie of Alda and David Bushhousen of Elba; a daughter, Teresa Pedersen and her husband Chris of Elba; ten grandchildren, Chad, Derek, Andrea, Brady, Kelsey, Tiffany, Samantha, Eric, Tracy and her husband Austin and Breann and her fiancé Matt; one great-grandchild, Jason; a brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Joan Bushhousen of Dannebrog; and two sisters, Amy Jo Sherman of Alda and Rita Minyard of Quinton, OK.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Jason and Shaun Bushhousen; two brothers, Allard and Gordon Bushhousen and two brothers-in-law, Jim Minyard and Ronald Sherman.
