Memorial Services for Lois A. Middleton will be conducted from the Zion Chapel at the Bethphage Village of Axtell Campus at Axtell, Nebraska on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John Gosswein officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Bethphage Mission Cemetery in Axtell.
Lois A. Middleton, 77 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Axtell) passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. Lois was born April 20, 1935 in Edinburg, Indiana, the youngest of four girls born to John Thomas, Jr. and Rowene Elizabeth (Baker) Middleton. She attended special schools for speech and hearing in both Denver and Indiana.
Lois made her home at the Bethphage Village of Axtell Campus and in Holdrege since 1965.
Lois enjoyed reading and basket weaving. She also loved working at the Corner Nugget in Holdrege and as a file clerk in Human Resources at Axtell. She had a special place in her heart for visiting with people, especially with children. Lois was a very kind, thoughtful and generous woman, and was adored by many.
Besides her parents, Lois was preceded in death by one sister, Amy Bice.
She leaves to mourn her passing her sisters: Nancy Malay of Parker, Colorado, Laura Middleton-Downing, of Boulder, Colorado, and Joanne Thompson of Bryant, Alabama; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
There will be no visitation. The family has honored Lois’ wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Lois’ honor and will be designated at a later date.
