Lois D. Worthley, 98, of Kearney, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jane Poole officiating. Burial will be Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. M.S.T. at the Alliance City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at The Bethel United Methodist Church. Lois was born January 7, 1915 in Loup City, Nebraska to Peter and Barbara (Sobieszczyk) Ross. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1933. She married William “Bill” Worthley on November 23, 1935 in Marysville, KS. They lived in Alliance until 1942, when they moved to Edgemont South Dakota for Bill’s job with the railroad. They moved back to Alliance in 1949. Lois moved to Gering in 2004 and then Gibbon in 2008. Lois has lived in Kearney since 2012. Lois was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cribbage, cards, fishing, flower gardening, cooking, knitting, and sewing. She was proud to have made a wedding gown that was worn by her daughter and granddaughter.
Surviving Relatives include her daughter Barb Hansen and her fiancée Ron Buescher of Gibbon, NE, sons; Bill and Barbara Worthley of Ft. Worth, TX, Jim and Karin Worthley of Rollingstone, MN, Ray and Edna Worthley of Hot Springs Village, AR, grandsons; Bill and Cindy Hansen of Lincoln, NE, Matt and Delores Worthley of Hollywood, FL, Ross and Diane Worthley of Redwood City, CA, granddaughters; Chris and Steve Kautz of Gibbon, NE, Margaret and Ron Graham of Kaihlua, HI, Laura and Dan Bucknam of Rollingstone, MN, Angie and Greg Gearhart of Gibbon, NE, 18 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, brother Arnold Ross, daughter Lois Jean Worthley, 2 granddaughters, and 1 grandson.
