Ronald Dale Rasser, the son of Betty (Johnson) and Percy Rasser, was born February 3, 1954 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. He departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his farm west of Red Cloud at the age of 59 years.

Ron was a lifelong resident of the Red Cloud community. He received his formal education attending the Red Cloud schools, graduating with the class of 1972. He continued his studies at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion. On August 5, 1972 he was united in marriage with Lizabeth Long at Red Cloud. This union was blessed with two sons, Cal and Brooks.

Ron returned to Red Cloud where he farmed and raised livestock. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan. His love for his family and especially his grandchildren was immeasurable. He was known to them as Pappy or Pap. Ron possessed a passion for the land and treasured his time working on the farm with his sons.

Preceding him in death were his father, Percy Rasser in 1982; and a sister, Barbara Walker.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lizabeth Rasser of Red Cloud; his sons, Calhoun Rasser and wife Stacy and daughters Ellarae and Emmalane; and Brooks Rasser and children Quinton, Caden and Avery; his mother, Betty Rasser of Red Cloud; a sister, Cinda Goodrich and husband Stacey of Tecumseh, Nebraska; a brother, Gary Rasser and wife Marcie of Austin, Texas; other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m., February 28, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Red Cloud with the Rev. Joel Rathbun officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Red Cloud Cemetery.

Book signing will be at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
