Hastings resident, Mary Helen Sheehy, 86, passed away from cancer Saturday, March 2, 2013 at her home with family by her side.

Rosary will be Tuesday, March 5, 2013, 7:30 p.m. at Butler Volland Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, March 4, 2013, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Butler Volland Funeral Home and one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Mary Helen was born August 15, 1926, in Hastings, Nebraska to Frank and Adeline (Mitchell) Kealy. She graduated from St. Cecilia’s High School in 1944, Hastings, Nebraska and attended Hastings College. On August 8, 1946, she married Richard Gerald Sheehy at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Hastings. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1971. She was a loving wife and mother of nine children, and a dedicated office manager for Drs. Foote and Beck for twenty years. Mary Helen was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed sewing, painting, bridge, golf, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Gerald Sheehy; 10 brothers and sisters; 2 infant grandchildren, Caitlin Sheehy and Patrick Cronstrom.
