Velta Grislitis was born November 26, 1923 in Latvia to Janis and Ieva Grislitis. She was united in marriage to Rudolfs Majorins on June 21, 1942 in Latvia. In July 1944, the extended family fled from their home in the wake of World War II, and made their way through many perils to Germany. They lived in Displaced Persons Camps for five years. In June 1949, they were able to emigrate from Germany to America, first to Indiana and then to Nebraska. They lived in Alda for the last 60 years.

She was a homemaker who worked hard and sacrificed much to provide for the needs of her family. She loved her flowers and garden, and spent many happy hours tending them. Her faith in God and in His Word was the strong anchor around which everything else in her life revolved.

Velta is survived by three daughters, Anna Majorins of Alda, Biruta Majorins of Grand Island, and Dzintra (Gary) Nelson of Anchorage, Alaska; two sons, John (Alice) Majorins of Alda, Raymond (Angie) Majorins of Longmont, Colorado; 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of wonderful friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister; two brothers; husband Rudolfs in 1984; and one granddaughter.
