Betty I. Wallace, 83, of Superior, Nebraska died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Kay Pouge Hospice Center in Salina, Kansas. The daughter of Elva (Adams) and Robert H. Saathoff, she was born August 6, 1929 in Jewell County, Kansas near Lovewell.
Betty received her formal education attending the Superior schools, graduating with the class of 1947. She was employed for a period of time as a telephone operator. On November 17, 1930 she was united in marriage with Carl Glen Wallace at Superior, Nebraska. This union was blessed with six children, two daughters and four sons. Glen and Betty farmed north of Burr Oak for 55 years before retiring to Superior in 2006. Glen passed away on March 9, 2008. That same year, due to her failing health, Betty moved to Salina, Kansas to live.
Betty was a member of the Northbranch Friends Church, the Triple K Club and the Tops Club. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, gardening and card games with her friends. Betty's love for her family was immeasurable and she especially cherished the time they spent together.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Wallace; and two brothers, Robert and Harry Saathoff.
Left to treasure her memory are her childen, Mike Wallace and wife Marva of Salina, Kansas; Jim Wallace and wife Carolyn of Marietta, Georgia; Charlene Wallace and husband Fred Brubiss of Lenexa, Kansas; Tom Wallace of Salina, Kansas; Pat Volker and husband Justin of Adams, Nebraska, and Brian Wallace and wife Cindy of Hastings, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister Norma Jean Meyer and husband Larry of Clovis, California; sisters-in-law, Birdie Saathoff of Superior, Nebraska and Lorene Saathoff of Hebron, Nebraska; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m., March 7, 2013 at the Northbranch Friends Church in Jewell County, Kansas with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Northbranch Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Superior with the family present Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Northbranch Friends Church or the Kay Pouge Hospice Center in Salina, Kansas.
