Holstein resident, Leland (Rusty) Leonard Shaw, 92, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion in Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11 am at Grace United Methodist Church, Holstein, Ne, with Pastor Stuart Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Holstein Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, 2013 and Friday, March 8, 2013 from 12 noon to 8 pm concluding with a family prayer service from 7 pm to 8 pm at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family through ww.brandwilson.com.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Holstein.

Rusty was born September 22, 1920 on a farm 4 miles south and 1½ miles east of Holstein to Leonard and Rosa (Piel) Shaw. He married Margaret Lang on May 19, 1941, who preceded him in death in 1996.

Rusty served in the army from 1942 to 1946. He farmed for 12 years and was employed at Hastings Regional Center for over 30 years. After retiring in 1986, he and Margaret enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and most of all, their grandchildren.

He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Holstein He belonged to the Lions Club for several years and was a member of American Legion Post #305 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his three sons: Lester and his wife Cheryl , Charles and his wife Linda and Russel; seven grandchildren: Debra and her husband Todd Burns, Kevin and his wife Kristin Shaw, Colleen and her husband Randy Kothe, Tim Shaw, Brad Shaw, Tami and her husband Joel Kershner, Kenton and his wife Lisa Shaw; 14 great-grandchildren: Brittany Breisch, Kaelyn and Robert Shaw, Jenna and her husband Brad Reiter, Andi and Eric Kothe, Nicholas Kothe, Matilyn, Gradyn, Logan and Owen Kershner, Jacob, Tyler, Hailey and Kyla Shaw; two great-great grandchildren, Colten and Hunter Kothe; one sister, Jean Frazier of Blue Hill, Ne; one step-grandchild, Naomi Engel; two step-great grandchildren, Stephanie and Jeff Burns; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret, his wife of 54 years and one great-grandchild, Christopher Breisch.
