Governor declares state of emergency due to drought
It's still extremely hot and still extremely dry. Not helping those severe drought conditions across much of western Nebraska. And the central part of the state isn't in the clear.
The moderate drought conditions are creeping into Central Nebraska. And Governor Heineman is taking action. He declared a state of emergency Monday saying the drought poses an imminent threat to the ability of local governments to respond. Heineman directed the State Department of Roads to move up the scheduled start of roadside haying in 55 counties. What the declaration will do is allow state workers to help with emergency situations that may come up as a result of the drought. |
