Heineman shortlisted for presidential appointment

Tools

Deb Fischer wasn't the only Nebraskan taking somewhat of a center stage at the Republican National Convention.

Word is spreading through Tampa that Governor Dave Heineman could be a short list for a potential Presidential appointment if Mitt Romney defeats Barack Obama in November.

Former Omaha mayor Hal Daub told that to Nebraska Watchdog's Joe Jordan at the Convention.

It wouldn't be the first time a Republican Governor from Nebraska got such a nod.

Heineman's predecessor, current U.S. Senator Mike Johanns, was tabbed as Secretary of Agriculture by President George W Bush.

It was then that Heineman moved from being Lieutenant Governor to the Governor's mansion.
