Nebraska native to see robot launch into space

Later this week, Space Shuttle Discovery will take off for its final trip to the international space station.

On board, will be a robot, made by a Nebraska man.

34-year-old Lincoln-native Kevin Bass is one of two engineers to work on Robonaut Two.

It will be the first humanoid robot at the space station.
It's job? To free astronauts for important work, like science experiments and research.

The robot will help with small tasks, like cleaning and repairs.

Bass' work on the robot included electronics and assembly.

He now lives in the Houston area.
