Record number of deer killed in the state

Hunters killed more than 88,000 deer in Nebraska making 2010 a record year for the state.

That number includes 77,000 whitetail deer, almost 38,000 whitetail bucks and nearly 40,000 antlerless whitetails were also killed - another record.

The commission said deer hunter success rates were 68 percent for firearm, 40 for archery and 37 for muzzleloader.

A record 166 elk were killed.
