UNL chancellor reminds employees to be vigilant
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln chancellor has reminded university employees that they must be vigilant in watching for signs of child sex abuse and reporting anything suspicious.
Chancellor Harvey Perlman mentioned in the email he sent Tuesday that the situation at Penn State "has raised issues to ponder and lessons to be learned." Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky is awaiting trial on charges that he sexually abused eight boys over 15 years. Perlman says every university employee has an obligation to maintain student well-being and safety on campus. He also says universities have a special obligation to "confront the conditions that can lead to abuse or indifference to its existence." |
