UNL makes plans to renovate industrial arts building

Taking an old building and giving it a new look for a new use. That's the plan for officials at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Thursday, officials announced a new plan to renovate the 99 year old Industrial Arts Building.

UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman hopes historical preservationists, who objected to previous plans to demolish the building, will accept this.

The primary developer says the Industrial Arts Building would house research space and mechanical equipment on the first floor and greenhouse space on the second floor.

No price tag for the project was announced.

This renovation is a part of the UNL transformation of the former state fairgrounds into a new research and technology park.
