U.S. Senator: Farm Bill is "inadequate"

Tools

The biggest bill sitting in front of Congress right now, at least for a farming and ranching state like Nebraska, is the Farm Bill. And, unfortunately, there's not any good news to report for the time being.

According to DeltaFarmPress.com, one U.S. Senator is upset that the House is taking up the Senate's version of the bill.

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow says the House version is inadequate. And she added that she's never seen a bipartisan bill not get taken up on the floor of the House. And this is her fourth Farm Bill.

Stabenow also said that if something is done by the current farm bill's expiration on September 30th the nation's farmers could face what she calls a "Depression-era farm policy."
