Unemployment rate holds steady in Nebraska

Nebraska's preliminary unemployment rate remained stable in October at 4.2 percent. That's unchanged from the revised figure for September.

Officials with the Nebraska Department of Labor said that the state's jobless rate remains less than half the national rate of 9 percent.

Both the Nebraska and national unemployment rates are better than a year ago when the state rate was 4.4 percent and the national rate was 9.7 percent.

The Labor Department says the trade, transportation and utilities sector and the education and health services sector added jobs in October.
