State Fair 2012? There's an app for that
Trying to stay on the leading edge of what's new and innovative. For the first time, the Nebraska State Fair is going mobile.
State Fair officials unveiled their new smart phone app this year to help fairgoers maneuver around Fonner Park a little easier.
News 5's Josh Egbert has more on this free app.
Coming to the Nebraska State Fair can be a little intimidating. There's so much to do, from the rides to the exhibits, to the foods, where do you begin and where do you go to next? The Nebraska State Fair is trying something new this year, their mobile app, everything from finding a place to park, hours, maps, directions, and even where to get food at.
"I think that tool will be very beneficial to our fair guests," said Events and Entertainment Director Chesley Jungck.
The Nebraska State Fair is rolling out their new smart phone app for iPhone and Androids.
"You can find all of our attractions, food items, you can mark your car, you can find your friends and family at the fair," Jungck said.
The app has a schedule of events, notices and reminders of concerts, a food finder, and so much more.
"It's very interactive, the mobile apps is GPS integrated," Jungck said.
Which means it can tell you just about anything.
"You can find where you're at on the fairgrounds, you can find what you're looking for and, like I said, you can mark your car at the beginning of the day and it will take you back to it at the end of the day," said Jungck.
One of the features is the food finder's drop-down menu, which you can browse by category, vendor, or name.
For fair officials, they're always looking for ways to make your visit to the Nebraska State Fair a memorable one.
"That's our goal is to stay on the leading edge of whats new and innovated," said Jungck.
The smart phone app is available at the Apple store or on the Android market and is free to download.
