Legislature Today (1/15/13): Salary raises, foster care

There was more work to be done at the Capitol on Tuesday including, a handful of more bills introduced on day four of the legislative session. Two of them have to do with salary increases.

LB 217 - It's sponsored by Lincoln Senator Bill Avery. Nebraska's constitutional officers and members of the Public Service Commission would get raises in 2015 under the bill. The governor's salary would increase from $105,000 a year to $126,000; the lieutenant governor's pay would go from $75,000 to $90,000; the bill causes for salary increases for the attorney general, secretary of state, auditor and treasurer.

LB 216 sponsored by Lincoln Senator Amanda McGill would adopt the Young Adult Voluntary Services and Support Act. The bill is aimed at helping Nebraskans in the foster care system find housing, and Medicaid.
