Mired in a 16 point hole at the half after watching his team shoot 34 percent from the floor, Tim Miles knew some drastic changes needed to be made for his Huskers to pull off a second half miracle against the Hawkeyes.

So the effervescent coach opted for the unorthodox deciding to play his best five: Dylan Talley, Brandon Ubel, Shavon Shields, David Rivers, and Ray Gallegos

For the entirety of the second half a move he can't recall ever making before in his career.

"I don't recall. I don't know. I guess not. Now that I think about it. Because I made a conscious effort that we were going to play those five. And I just felt like we gave everybody a chance in the first half and it was, um, we couldn't get them under control and so we thought those were our five most solid, dependable guys and that's who we played," said Miles.

"I didn't even realize that. I didn't even realize it, I mean we just got to go play. Like I said earlier we aren't playing with that many guys, but you know, with the crowd, all i know is the crowd give me personally a bunch of energy. Times I'm tired I hear them going and I get that adrenaline rush. You just keep on fighting and competing the best you can," Talley said.

"You know, we needed to play with more energy and play together and that's what we did. We were driving, not just off ourselves, but to create for others, too. And we got a lot of feet in the paint. Easy shots, easy rebounds, so that was big for us," Ubel said.

More good news coming out of Saturday's contest for Big Red
Freshman Shavon Shields receiving Big Ten freshman of the week honors for his performance against the Hawkeyes.

The frosh threw up 17 points12 of which came after recess marking the fifth time he's reached double figures in conference play.

It's the second time the Olathe, Kansas native has won the award this season. The first was back on January 21st after huge games against Purdue and Penn State.
