Bronco wrestler Rush proves strength on the mat

In the short four seasons of the Hastings Bronco wrestling program, Jameon Rush has proven himself to be one of the best in the nation.

Jameon became an All–American two seasons ago. He's wrestled his first three years at 174 pounds.

The senior from Clay Center, Kansas, who sometimes mixes it up with coach Shawn Kelly in practice, has 121 victories, 20 short of the conference record.

This season, he's dropped to 165 which is tough to do to "make weight" but which he says will give him a better chance at competing for a national championship in March in Oklahoma City.

With Jameon leading the way, coach Kelly believes his team has more All–Americans in the making.

The more All–Americans, the more successful the Hastings Bronco wrestling team becomes.

The coach is hoping Jameon's goals are the teams goals.

The Broncos will face Dakota Wesleyan in a dual match Wednesday night in O'Neill.

Jameon will then head for Orlando, Florida for a national competition this weekend in which he'll compete against wrestlers from such schools as Texas and Kansas State among others that have "club" teams which will get him ready for the NAIA Nationals.
