Cross Country runners compete in Kearney
It is not only a huge football night, but the Cross Country runners took center stage Friday for their championship races in Kearney.
Let's go to the state Cross Country Championship at Kearney Countrry Club. The Hastings Tigers make their first appearance as a team at the meet since 1999. Trevor Rosno makes the most of it as he comes home in 5th place over the 3.1 mile course with a time of 16:44.6 seconds. He couldn't run last year because of a medical condition, but he had a strong finish Friday. One of the true stars of the meet is Gabby Gracia of the Holdrege Dusters. Gabby dominated the compettion in the Class B meet of 2.6 miles taking the championship going away with a time of 14 minutes 48.2 seconds. Gabby also won the UNK high school meet here last month. Hastings Tiger Marika Van Brocklin finished fifth among the girls runners in Class B. Among the other teams running were the St. Cecilia boys and Adams Central Girls. |
