Like so many, one of coach Tim Miles favorite people is his Athletic Director Tom Osborne. Afterall, Tom hired him to be head coach.

One day after Tom was honored at the Minnesota football game, he was watching the Husker basketball team take on UNO.

Tom was sitting in his usual seat at mid-court as the Huskers defeated the Mavericks.

The day before, coach Bo Pelini had Tom take the field with the Huskers one last time before Tom's retirement as AD January 1st.
Coach Miles knows it was a special moment.

As we know, Tom stepped down from coaching Nebraska after the 1997 season after 255 victories and 3 National Championships.
He made a promise to then assistant Frank Solich that Frank would become coach.

Tim Miles makes a great point, after such a tremendous run as a college head football coach, Tom Osborne wasn't through accomplishing in life, not by a long shot.

Tom Osborne was Nebraska's 3rd district congressman, which is this congressional district for three 2 year terms from 2001 to 2007.
He then returned to the University of Nebraska as a professor before being asked to replace Steve Pederson as Athletic Director.

He'll be succeeded as AD by Shawn Eickhorst January 1st.
