For most of the season fans and media members alike have been wondering when the Nebraska defense were going to show up and earn their blackshirts. The answer was October 29th versus Michigan State.

The Husker defense played easily their best game of the season holding Sparty to less than 100 yards passing while sacking Kirk Cousins four times after getting just nine in the previous seven games.

The strong performance on Dee is perhaps just a preview of what's to come as the Huskers look to lock up a bid in the Big 10 Championship game and a berth in the Rose Bowl.

All four sacks came from players on the defensive line. Eric Martin picked up two. Cameron Meredith and Baker Steinkuler chipped in one a piece.

The defense didn't do it all, though, Saturday as the offense pounded it out behind Rex Burkhead's 35 carries holding the ball for over 11 minutes in the decisive third quarter scoring two touchdowns to put the game out of reach for Michigan State.
