Back in Central Florida Athletic Director Tom Osborne was honored by Nebraska alumni on his final official day as the school's AD.

A group of Husker supporters got together earlier Tuesday morning to celebrate the man that's led the football team for the better part of four decades.

But even though he'll enter a form of retirement that doesn't mean Tom will be putting his feet up at home.

"I don't plan to sit around. On the other hand I won't be as involved with the athletic department and probably by next July I'll pretty much be gone and focus more on Teammates," said Osborne.

"Tom's done wonderful things for the university and the state of Nebraska. There's always a sadness with any transition, but we all go sometime," said Chancellor Harvey Perlman.

As of Wednesday Shawn Eichorst will take over as the school's new athletic director. Osborne will stay on through June as a special consultant.
