Its that time of the year again where everybody gets their brackets together and fights for the championship. I'm not talking about the NCAA tournament but the 31st annual Whoopers and Hoopers tournament taking place this weekend in gyms all over the Hastings area.

Whoopers and Hoopers started as a small area tournament three decades ago and has just continued to grow throughout the years.

Games tip off tonight in nine different gyms and will ramp it up Saturday with 14 gyms participating and a slam dunk Competition taking place at 6:30 Friday night in Lynn Farrell Arena.

Good luck everybody involved and make sure you stretch. Don't want to pull a hammy.
