Wrangler coach comments on Danger game
The Nebraska Danger 71-62 loss to the Allen Wranglers Saturday night knocked the Danger out of the playoff chase with a 4-8 record.
Last season in its first year, the squad won three games and saw some excellent play from quarterback Dixie Wooten.
Dixie returned to the Heartland Events Center Saturday as coach of the Wranglers against his old team having taken over the reigns several weeks ago.
Though Dixie was on the other sidelines, he said it was good to see some familiar faces and good friends.
"Oh man it was beautiful to come back and see your brothers you were playing with and you came back to see the fans that love you all through the year last year, but you know coaching, I think, is my calling and it was fun to be back in Grand Island," said Wooten.
Dixie's team rallied from behind outscoring the Danger 25-7 in the 3rd quarter and overcoming a two score deficit. Quarterback James Knighton threw four touchdown passes in the 3rd quarter alone.
"Our quarterback was new, so he kind of struggled in the first half so we kind of had confidence in him to throw the ball around and he made some great plays for us," Wooten said.
