Five Star Performer: Ethan Kreutz
Instead of playing football in the fall, Ethan Kreutz of Giltner decided to work on his shot for basketball season. His extra time payed off.
The biggest shot of the state tournament makes Ethan this week's News 5's 5 Star performer of the week sponsored by Auora Cooperative. This week in school, Giltner junior Ethan Kreutz is having trouble concentrating. "I was just thinking about the play about every period," said Kreutz. "What else do I have to come to school for now. We're state champs." The junior''s three-point buzzer beater gave Giltner a 57-54 win. And, the school's first ever boy's state basketball title. "It's great to know that will go down in history as the first team in school history to win the state championship," said Kreutz. And, it wasn't long before Kreutz became a familiar face. "On Sunday, people were stopping and talking me about the game, and saying hey' you're the kid that hit that shot," Kreutz said. But, through these halls, Ethan isn't appreciated for just his skills on the court. "What I really appreciate is that he's committed to getting as good as grades as he can, he gets upset if he misses words on a spelling test," said Teacher Susan Pillard. There's plenty of words to describe Kreutz. Selfish isn't one of them. |
