Five Star Performer: Kenesaw Boys Basketball

Not even having a veteran team used to winning guarantees a perfect season. It's hard to win every time out.

Yet, that's what the Kenesaw Blue Devil basketball team has done so far this year.

A most recent triumph was achieved in dramatic fashion as we see in this weeks' Aurora Cooperative News Five Five Star Performance.

When Kenesaw Blue Devil Dalton Bender stepped to the foul line Saturday, his team's undefeated season was on the line.

Dalton not only made the first shot tying the Twin Valley Conference title game against Shelton, he made the second to put the Devils ahead. A last second heave by the Dogs went awry and Kenesaw Saw yet another victory.

"I just let everything get out of my mind-just focused," said Dalton Bender, Kenesaw Blue Devil.

"Last year we were at districts against Overton and he made like seven in a row for us," Jack Einrem, Kenesaw Blue Devil Basketball Coach.

The Dogs gave the Devils a Devil of a time. Shelton's Luke Glenn for instance beat the first half buzzer and it looked like Kenesaw ran into a buzz saw.

It wouldn't have been the end of the world if the fans saw a loss for Kenesaw since the upcoming state tournament may turn out to be the best set of games they ever saw.

Still, at now 20-0 this year's team at Kenesaw might be the best anyone's ever saw

"Yeah, it's great feeling, it's our senior year for most of us and it's just a big deal for us," said Tyler Schnitzler, Kenesaw Blue Devil Senior.

Will they Be-Devil the competition all the way to March Madness and the state tournament?

As Kansas State football coach Bill Snyder might metaphorically say, which he's often told his own team; "Kenesaw keep sawin' wood."
