Bronco basketball challenges Briar Cliff in Sioux City
Hastings Bronco basketball was in action Saturday against Briar Cliff. Both teams have gotten votes in the Top 25 poll.
First half, Broncos up four - Brett Wells with the bucket and the foul. Free throw no good and Hastings up two at the break. Second stanza, Turner Fahey drives the lane, goes off the window, BCU up 44-42. Later, some more Wells. Broncos came into Sioux City and just put an end to the Chargers' winning ways. Hastings wins this one 82-74. The Broncos improve 16-6 on the season. Hastings Bronco women were also in action. They played Briar Cliff in December and won that one. They gave them everything they could handle. First half, McKenzie Shipley rattles home the tray giving Briar Cliff a 34-27 lead. It's a 5 point game now as Lexie Henschke drills that shot, makes it 36-32 at the break. But Hastings not going away, Cami Bruckman falls down, still hits this jumper, pulls Hastings within two. Go to overtime, but didn't have quite enough in the extra frames. The Lady Broncos fall to the fifth ranked team in the nation. Final score, 79-70. Broncos fall under 500, 11-12 on the season. |
