Bronco softball takes on Doane
From baseball in Omaha, we go to softball in Hastings as the Broncos, who started the day in 9th place, take on the 2nd place Doane Tigers.
Let's go to the Smith complex for the first of two, as this fan has his Bronco hat on to support the home team. We start in the top of the 1st of game one.Nicole Diaz is at 2nd, as Doane's Shelby Mendlik up there for the Tigers gets a hold of one and drives it deep to center. The ballpark will not hold it, and the Tigers take a quick 2-0 lead. It's a nice warm day here in Hastings for the fans, relatively rare for Nebraska this time of year. The Broncos up here in the bottom of the first and have runners at 1st and 2nd for Jessy Johnson. Jessy drives one to left, it has home run distance. Will it stay fair? It is called a foul ball, just foul. Let's take a slow motion look at that one, and it's tough to tell, but it is ruled just foul and it's still 2-0. We move to the bottom of the 2nd, Anna Eberly is at 2nd for the Broncos. "Fe" is up ther for the Broncos, Felicia Graff, and the junior from Loveland, Colorado delivers a basehit to right, Anna scores making it 2-1. |
