Broncos put up good fight for homecoming game
It was a bitter–sweet homecoming Saturday for Hastings College.
The football team, badly needing a home victory to keep their playoffs hopes alive, made a plethora of mistakes against the Midland Warriors, and it cost them the game. There were a couple of bright spots though for ole HC. Former Bluehawk Dalton Sealey had himself a nice 39 touchdown run for the Broncos in the third quarter. Sealey finished the day with 10 carries for 54 yards and that touchdown. Also at halftime of Saturdays' game it was Hall of Fame time. Former Bronco Head Basketball Coach Tony Hobson, and players Carrie Hoffstettor and Elizabeth Herbek were all inducted into the Bronco Hall of Fame. The National Championship teams of '02 and '03 are also now a part of the Hall. During his 7 years at Hastings Coach Hobson won 3 National Titles, with 5 Final Four appearances; he compiled a record of 211 and 40 and was NAIA Coach of the Year 3 times. Quite a run, Coach Hobson of course now coaching at Fort Hays State University down there in Kansas. |
