Hastings Broncos recruit new round of players
Hastings Bronco football coach Tony Harper has signed more than 20 players for the 2012 season and has his eye on a few more.
Four of the new players were on campus Thursday. Three are Hastings natives with kicker Kenny Anderson from California. Tony says he is very happy to have St. Cecilia wide receiver Matt Kissinger coming down the street to Hastings College. Matt was a key member of 2 state title teams and last year's playoff squad. He did suffer a knee injury in a basketball game in December and has had reconstructive surgery. Matt says he'll recover and play football for the Broncos. The Broncos signed Kenny Anderson from San Mateo Junior College in California. That's the same school of the former Bronco excellent kicker Ernesto Lacayo who last played for Hastings in 2009. The Broncos, who were 6-4 last season, has its opener at Dordt September 8th, though they might get an 11th game with a non-conference foe September 1st. Hastings high school Tigers Trenton Halbmaier and Jackson Powers were there Thursday after signing with the Broncos Wednesday. Jackson will play wide receiver after being a defensive back and Trenton is a lineman. Both are thrilled to stay 'at home' for Tony Harper's Broncos. Both guys also said they're thrilled to continue playing home games at Lloyd Wilson Field which is home to both the Hastings High Tigers and Hastings College Broncos. |
