Coach Creech honored at Lynn Farrell Arena
It was an emotional scene last night at Lynn Farrell Arena as the fans and players honored Bronco coach Lance Creech, stepping down after the conclusion of this basketball season.
The Bronco coach has been on the staff for almost a decade and a half, more than a decade as head coach. His Broncos went out and rewarded him with a 83-63 victory over the Concordia Bulldogs giving the squad its 20th victory of the campaign. The Bronco season is not nearly over. They'll visit Morningside Saturday, then play Wednesday in the GPAC tournament. A win at Morningside might mean another home game next Wednesday. News 5 caught up with the coach after the victory. "When I made this announcement back in October it felt like an eternity away before you have an opportunity to even think about how it goes. You get so wrapped up in game planning, gettin' kids healthy, keeping kids healthy, playing in practice and it hasn't hit me totally. This was a very nice gesture on our students' part. It was a really neat deal for me. Probably ask me a week after the season and it'll hit me like a ton of bricks," said Creech. After the season, Coach Creech has a job waiting for him in the insurance business. He'll continue in coaching somewhat, that is coaching his sons' youth teams here in the area. |
