Hastings College signs 12 for new season

Keeping it Local. That's the motto that new Hastings College football Coach Tony Harper seems to be following with his first recruiting class as head coach.

Wednesday, the coach announced the signing of 12 for the 2011 season including four from just a few miles from campus.

They are quarterback Matt Overmiller, and lineman Skylar Hunt from Adams Central, lineman Jordan Consbruck of St. Cecilia, and Silver Lake lineman Sawyer Monroe.

Coach Harper recently replaces Paul Mierkiewicz who left Hastings to Coach his alma mater Loras College.

The Broncos finished 2010 with a 5-5 mark and the new head coach likes his first recruiting class.

With the graduation of Troy Huebert, and the transfer of Kean Stancil, Coach Harper expects Matt Overmiller to compete for the starting job.
