Northwest softball team fundraises for national tourney
There is a great story coming out of Northwest High School as the 16 and under Northwest Illusion Softball team has qualified for the national tournament in Wisconsin August first through the fifth.
And to help pay for the trip the players are using this week and next to raise a little extra money holding fund raisers at different businesses throughout Grand Island. "Last night we did Cherry Berry from 6:00 to 10:00 and they gave us 10 percent of the profit which was very nice," said Laura Springer. "And then tonight we have Buffalo Wild Wings from 5:00 to 10:00 and we get 10 percent of the profit as well. And today we're pumping gas from 10:00 to 6:00 as well as next Wednesday." According to the girls, public support has been fantastic so far raising about $3500 Tuesday night at Cherry Berry and in just three hours. Pumping gas and washing windows at Hy-Vee they made nearly $400 in donations. "Everyone has been super nice and very generous. And it's just really rewarding to talk to the people in the community and see how happy they are for us and excited for our trip to nationals," Springer said. The players will be out at B-Dubs until 10:00 Wednesday night so go out and show your support. |
