Coaching change rumors extend to Bo Pelini

by News 5 Sports

Between the end of the regular season and beginning of the bowls, coaching changes and speculation run rampant.

A report in the Harrisburg Patriot said Penn State contacted Husker coach Bo Pelini about its head coaching job, but also added Bo is not in the mix at Penn State.

This happens as Bo himself looks for an assistant coach to replace his brother Carl who left to become head coach of the Owls of Florida Atlantic.

As we mentioned on News 5 Monday, the name of Iowa line coach Rick Kaczenski has been mentioned as a possible Husker assistant, but we have to wait until after Iowa's Insight Bowl next week against Oklahoma to find out.

The Huskers held their last workout before adjourning for the Christmas Holiday preparing for the January 2nd Capital One bowl in Orlando against South Carolina.

After practice, Bo talked about the report he had been contacted by Penn State about their head coaching vacancy.

Bo went on to say that linebacker Eric Martin, who was injured and out of the final regular season game with Iowa, will play in the Capital One Bowl against South Carolina.

Martin had been cited for being involved in a minor traffic accident in a parking lot. He'll be disciplined internally within the team.

Bo also had this to say about starting center Mike Caputo cited for but not yet charged with a DUI over a week ago.

Earlier this week Bo said he was banning the players for the time being from using their Twitter accounts.

Other coaches in other sports have done this to help stop the rumor mill and gossip.
