Husker nation names new athletic director

The Huskers have found their man. University of Miami Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst will take over as Athletic Director for Tom Osborne at Nebraska. January 1st.

Eichorst has been at Miami for the past two years. Before that, he was *Associate* Athletic Director at the University of Wisconsin, working under Badger Athletic Director and former football coach Barry Alvarez.

Eichorst is a Wisconsin native and attended the Unviersity of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Marquette University.

The official announcement was made Thursday. Shawn Eichorst will be in Lincoln and be formally be introduced as Nebraska AD Tuesday October 9th at 11:00 am.

He will serve as special assistant to the Chancellor before taking over January 1st.

Osborne just announced last week he would step down, though it had been in the works for a long time.

Eichorst visited the Nebraska campus last month after Miami had played Kansas State in Manhattan so he'd been on the Chancellor's radar for awhile.
