Husker ready for second season in Big 10
Having spoken at the Big 10 football Media Days in Chicago, the Huskers are set for their second season as members of the new league.
Of course there will be four football games before league play starts September 29th when the Wisconsin Badgers visit Memorial Stadium for the Big 10 opener. September 1st is the magic date for the Huskers as they host the University of Southern Mississippi in the opener for both teams. Many eyes will be on the Husker offense which produced only 13 points in the Capital One Bowl loss to South Carolina, none after the first quarter, and outscored the opposition by only 46 touchdowns to 40 last season. "We don't think too much about that game, we just want to get back out there on the field and score and celebrate with our teammates and I think we can have a great offense," said Husker tight end Kyler Reed. "I'm ready to carry the ball ten, 20, 30 times as much as the coaches want me to, I am going to get help from Amir and Braylon and they'll be ready to play as well," Husker Rex Burkhead said. Rex should get some help from Amir Abdulla and Braylon Heard sharing some of the carries in the backfield, but in his senior year, the Doak Walker award candidate looks to move up the Husker all time rushing chart with a chance to be in the school's top five all time leading rushers in program history. |
